The Liebster Award

I was nominated by the lovely blog Musings of a Nerdy Girl. Her blog is wonderful and I really enjoy reading it, and I think you will, too! So, apparently, along with this award come some responsibilities. If you are nominated for this award, you must:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you, and post a link to their blog on your blog.
  2. Display the award on your blog — by including it in your post and/or displaying it using a “widget” or a “gadget”. (Note that the best way to do this is to save the image to your own computer and then upload it to your blog post.)
  3. Answer 11 questions about yourself, which will be provided to you by the person who nominated you.
  4. Provide 11 random facts about yourself.
  5. Nominate 5 – 11 blogs that you feel deserve the award, who have a less than 200 followers. (Note that you can always ask the blog owner this since not all blogs display a widget that lets the readers know this information!)
  6. Create a new list of questions for the blogger to answer.
  7. List these rules in your post (You can copy and paste from here.)
  8. Find some way to inform those who you have nominated.

Whew! There are a LOT of rules. But, it doesn’t really matter, since I am very happy to have been nominated. My blog was started in December of 2014, and I am very happy about how quickly it’s picking up. I just wanted to take this time to thank everyone who is currently following me and everyone who has viewed or like my posts. You don’t know how happy I am when I log on and see these notifications on my computer! It completely brightens my day! You guys are the best and I just wanted to let you know that.

Now, I am going to show you all the lovely Liebster Award, in all it’s glory:

liebTa-da! This is the most common version of the badge, although if you are nominated for this award you should check online, because there are so many beautiful alternative versions!

Now, I must move on to the next part of this award, which is answering eleven questions created for me by the Musings of a Nerdy Girl. Well, here you go!

1.) When and why did you start your blog?

I started my blog on the first week of December 2014 ( I know, it’s fairly recent). I started this because almost every time I read a book or watch a movie, I felt the need to rant. After some time, I felt like my friends started getting bored with my rants. My sister suggested that I start a blog so I can start ranting about the books I love and hate to people who actually listen, and it sounded like a good idea to me. I am so happy for listening to her advice and starting this, because this is one of the best things that have ever happened to me.

2.) What is your favorite book and/or movie genre? Why?

My favorite book genre has got to be YA dystopian novels. As cliche as that sounds, I always find that these novels always pack the perfect punch for me, providing just the right amount of action, romance, adventure, and just plain old teenage rebellion. My favorite movie genre is definitely action. Watching romance movies feels plain weird to me, and comedy, while really entertaining, does not fulfill my purpose for watching movies. I watch movies to escape, and while comedy helps me forget about my troubles, it doesn’t take me into another world where I’m a completely different person.

3.) If you could choose to have any superpower, would you? If yes, what would it be and why? If no, why not?

YES. OF COURSE! What kind of person would reject that kind of offer?! I would definitely choose to have the power to control the probabilities of certain events occurring. For example, the probability that Chris Evans is madly in love with me? 100%. The probability that I am perfect at everything I do? 100%. Did you catch my drift?

4.) What is your biggest pet peeves?

I HATE people who act overly arrogant or like they know something, when in fact they really don’t. I don’t even understand how such an annoying personality can be created. It’s not like they were always perfect, so what makes them act like it?

5.) Name one of your guilty pleasures. Why is it a “guilty” pleasure?

My biggest guilty pleasure has to be Samoas. Guys, if you are not from the United States and have never tried the miracles that are Girl Scout Cookies, you need to buy a flight to here ASAP! These cookies are DIVINE, with just the perfect amount of caramel, chocolate, and other random ingredients that taste heavenly! I promised myself that I wouldn’t eat too many after I accidentally looked at the nutritional facts on the side of the box, but I can’t help but eat at least one a day.

6.) What is your favorite time of day and why?

I love the afternoon, because it’s the perfect time of day. It’s a little bit after the morning, so you are fully awake, but you still have a lot of the day ahead of you. The possibilities are endless. So, I guess what I like about it is the fact that you can enjoy your day fully and still have plenty of time left for surprise.

7.) What is your favorite season of the year and why?

WINTER!!! Since I live in Texas, we really don’t get to experience enough chilly weather. Winter is the only time that we might have a chance of snow and fun, since the heat during the summer is enough to make you dunk your face into a bucket of ice! I love the snow, because even a tiny bit of snow means no school for us, because we Texans would probably kill ourselves trying to drive on ice!

8.) If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live and why?

I would either live in London or Boston. I went to Boston for a summer research program and I loved every bit of it. The place had a cozy, yet metropolitan feel to it which I was immediately attracted to. I love London, despite never having been there. Everything there seems so traditional and modern at the same time. Plus, have you heard a British accent? Those are one of the most attractive accents in the world!

9.) What is your favorite thing about yourself?

This is a hard question, because I have a pretty low self-esteem. I guess I would have to say my ability to befriend almost anyone. I am friends with a large range of people, but I don’t know if that’s because I’m likeable or because they feel sorry for me due to my utter lameness.

10.) What is the best compliment you have ever received?

“You’re so smart!” I don’t care as much about my physical appearance as I do my intelligence level, and I love it when someone acknowledges my hard work.

11.) What is the weirdest, most unique thing you have ever eaten? Would you eat it again?

Chicken feet. Don’t ask, the whole experience was weird. However, I would definitely eat it again, because that stuff was surprisingly DELICIOUS!

Well, those were the eleven questions! I’m sorry for some of the lengthy answers.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————-

Now, I must give you eleven random things about me that weren’t answered in the previous questions. I hope you enjoy getting to know more about me!

1.) I have done several Harry Potter Sorting Hat quizzes, and do you know what every single one of them said I would be in? HUFFLEPUFF. Why?! I mean, there’s nothing wrong with them, but there’s nothing really cool about them, either.

2.) For all you Divergent fans, if I was in the Divergent world, I would probably choose to join Amity, where I’d be high on the drug of friendship (quite literally, actually, if you read the series).

3.) I am actually Indian. I know it’s shocking to think of an Indian living in Texas, but there are actually quite a lot of us that live here!

4.) I don’t really care about how I look like, especially when going to school, because I feel like if I have extra time, I should spend it studying or doing something beneficial. You’ll usually find me wearing jogger pants or sweatpants topped with a school t-shirt or hoodie.

5.) My favorite artist of all time is Leonid Alfremov. Although I hate using rainbow colors, I love how he incorporates it into his paintings in the most dazzling and unique ways! Here’s one of his paintings:

Leonid Alfremov6.) The book that has given me the biggest book hangover so far has been Prodigy, which is the second book in the Legend series. YOU NEED TO READ THE LEGEND SERIES IF YOU HAVEN’T ALREADY. I finished reading the second book before the third book came out, and it ended with the biggest cliffhanger I have ever read. I sat there for TWO WHOLE DAYS (I’m not exaggerating), crying and reading fangirls’ comments on Goodreads and looking at the fan art. Every couple of hours, after I stopped crying, I would go back and read the last chapter of the book just to torture myself. It was horrible but also the best experience I had had with a book in a long time.

7.) My favorite food is ice cream. I could eat ice cream during a blizzard and still enjoy it.

8.) I am an editor for our school’s literary magazine, which means I am able to read a lot of different works by my fellow classmates. Some of the kids in my school are actually pretty good writers!

9.) My biggest celebrity crush is Chris Evans. But, NO, that is NOT the only reason I watched Captain America and the Avengers. I can like the actor and the character he’s playing at the same time, can’t I? (By the way, I am very excited for Avengers 2, which is coming out on May 1!)

10.) My biggest fear is failure. However, as I child I was terrified of heights, so much so that it took me until I was six to be able to climb the stairs!

11.) My favorite color is blue. As much as I love the snow, I can’t help but enjoy the beach, especially since I was born in California. I guess that the color blue reminds me of my peaceful days of living by the sea.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————-

So, those were my pretty lame facts about myself. Now, I guess it’s the time you’ve all been waiting for….. NOMINATIONS! So, in no particular order, here they are:

1.) Girl In the Pages: Check out her blog to find everything there is to want about books!

2.) I Was Angelized_1st: Her book reviews are AMAZING! (and I know that she has WAY more than 200 followers, but I didn’t notice that at first! Oops!)

3.) Commas and Ampersands: Her favorite quotes and updates on the latest books will definitely put a smile on your face!

4.) Swxftbooks: Her daily posts and challenges are definitely interesting to read about!

5.) Russian Artist: Her art is truly incredible, and I always enjoy seeing it.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————-

Well, there are my five nominations. I will also inform those who were nominated to make sure they know so they can celebrate!!! Well, those who I have nominated have to answer a few questions of mine. After some careful thought, here’s what I could come up with:

1.) If you had to pick a favorite novel, what would it be and why?

2.) Who is your favorite classic author?

3.) Who is your favorite modern author?

4.) What is your earliest memory of a book?

5.) What is your favorite sweet treat? Why?

6.) What is/was your best subject in school?

7.) What was your first favorite TV show?

8.) Where were you born? What was your favorite part about that place?

9.) What’s your favorite genre of music?

10.) What is your most embarrassing memory of yourself?

11.) What is your biggest fear?

Well, I think that I covered every bit of the criteria. I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed making it. Congratulations to all of those who were nominated and thank you once again to Musings of a Nerdy Girl for nominating me!

Hi! I liked your post a lot; it was interesting to learn a bit more about you! I also love YA dystopias. Legend was one of the most recent series of dystopias that I read, and I enjoyed it a lot.

Although Hufflepuff is the only Hogwarts house I know for sure I would not be in (I’m not nearly friendly enough!), I still have a lot of respect for Hufflepuffs. (I actually have a post on my blog about why I think each and every one of the houses is great.) I think it’s very fitting that your favorite thing about yourself is that you can befriend almost anybody (a trait I am slightly envious of, by the way) and that you’re a Hufflepuff. In any case, Tonks was a Hufflepuff and look at how amazing she was!

As a side note, it looks like there aren’t links to any of the blogs you nominated. (If there are and I’m just not seeing them, I apologize for the mistake.) I would love to check them out, but I wasn’t sure of their URLs. It would be awesome if some links could be put in. 🙂
